Details
What is done (and is not done) in the first 48 hours after a large or small disaster event influences how successful the entire recovery process will be, including impacts on costs and timelines. This presentation covers typical initial response and recovery efforts by campus auxiliary facilities and how those decisions impact the entire process. It also explores how the 80/20 rule can apply to initial recovery efforts. Using examples and case studies from actual large-scale disasters, as well as small- and medium-sized everyday losses, this presentation will help attendees understand typical incident development, common issues and challenges, and best practices to shorten timelines, reduce loss of use, and lower overall recovery costs. Through participation in this course, auxiliary organization will better understand how informed preplanning and response can lead to a smoother recovery process and overall cost reductions. The presentation consists of an engaging verbal presentation accompanied by many informative photographs of real-world crises. The slides effectively punctuate and illustrate key concepts, allowing attendees to more fully understand typical recovery challenges and solutions.
