Biography

Deanna Jacona brings over 39 years of expertise in the casualty industry, with a distinguished career spanning third-party administrators, insurance carriers, self-insured employers, education services, and consulting firms. Her leadership roles have included Claims Manager, Branch Claims Supervisor, Risk Management Consultant, and Instructor for the Insurance Education Association. Deanna’s experience encompasses oversight of self-insured and self-administered programs, Joint Powers Authorities (JPAs), school districts, counties, and statewide claims operations. She has led initiatives in carrier relations, executive presentations, audit services, training programs, financial compliance, and regulatory reporting. Her work includes managing state and self-insured audits, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with California Labor Code, Ed Code, and federal guidelines. Since October 2021 Deanna is the CSU Workers’ Compensation Claims Consultant providing strategic casualty consulting across all CSU campuses working with Systemwide Risk Management, and Auxiliary Divisions. Her responsibilities include regulatory audits, program design, claims administration oversight, training delivery, legislative consulting, catastrophic loss management, and monthly campus reporting. She also advises on insurance coverage, risk exposure, financial reserving, and excess carrier programs. Credentials: Self-Insured License, WCCP, WCCA, CPFI
