Co-presenters will include experts working directly in these areas, whose work exemplifies collaborative strategies that integrate food services into broader basic needs frameworks. Attendees will leave with practical ideas and models for cross-departmental partnerships that enhance student success.

Biography

Emily Kass (she/her) is the Systemwide Manager of Basic Needs Initiatives with the CSU Office of the Chancellor. In her role, Emily supports the Basic Needs teams on all 22 campuses with their food and housing security initiatives, engages the systemwide Basic Needs community in regular convenings and workgroups, and collaborates with statewide and national Basic Needs coalitions to advocate for equitable student resources. She also co-leads the new CSU Pregnant & Parenting Students Initiative. Prior to her work at the CSU, Emily received her Master of Education degree in Student Affairs at UCLA where she worked with students at the Center for Accessible Education and the Basic Needs Center. She formerly served as the Community Engagement Manager at a national student hunger-fighting nonprofit, Swipe Out Hunger.
