The new Cal/OSHA Workplace Violence Prevention standard took effect in July 2024.  This standard has significant requirements and impacts to AORMA operations.  Join this session to hear more about the requirements, approaches/practices to meet the standard objectives, and resources from Systemwide Risk Management and Alliant Insurance to assist your Auxiliary.

Biography

In his 20 years working in EHS leadership roles and six years as Senior Manager for the CSU Systemwide Risk Management Office, Scott has helped close Systemwide EHS audits, conducted annual Systemwide EHS program evaluations, provided leadership through a lab safety settlement agreement at UCI, and led a Disneyland safety team through a reorganization. Scott enjoys innovative solutions while ensuring continuity with big picture strategies and his organizational partners. Programs he has led maintained balanced budgets and low injury rates. As a first-generation college graduate, Scott values the opportunities education can provide. He also values his family, church, mentors, supervisors, co-workers, and employees. He enjoys leading diverse and cross-functional teams aligned to achieve the same goals.

Biography

John joined the Alliant Insurance Services team in 2017 where he has held the position of Lead Risk Control Consultant that includes providing a range of risk control solutions across Higher Education, Public Entity, Healthcare and Tribal Nations. As a Lead Risk Control Consultant, John has a range of responsibilities including strategic planning and management of large account risk control services, onsite service delivery of technical risk control services, and safety program assessment and improvement planning. John has over 28 years of experience including work at global Fortune 20 Tech companies, start-ups, and higher education. His background has included roles in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, Operations and Account Management. While John is a generalist, he brings his passion as a safety professional, and enthusiasm for collaborative partnerships. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from California State University, Fresno. He also holds two board certifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
